Fill the fuel tank with fresh unleaded regular gasoline
from a major name-brand service station (Figure 25).
Important: To reduce starting problems, add
fuel stabilizer to the fuel all season, mixing it with
gasoline less than 30 days old. Do not add oil to
the gasoline.
Note: Never use methanol, gasoline containing
methanol, or gasoline containing more than 10% ethanol
because the fuel system could be damaged.

Starting the Engine

1. Check the engine oil level. Refer to Checking the
Engine Oil Level in Maintenance.
2. Turn the fuel shutoff valve 1/4 turn counterclockwise
to open it (Figure 26).
3. Insert the ignition key all the way in (Figure 27).
