IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

For safety purposes please read these instructions carefully before using the appliance for the
fi rst time. Save these instructions for future reference.
1. The appliance is designed for domestic and internal use only and may be operated in ac-
cordance with these instructions' manual.
2. Do not immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid, in order to protect against the risk
of electric shock.
3. The iron should always be turned to 'Off' before plugging or unplugging from outlet. Never
yank cord to disconnect from outlet; instead, grasp plug and pull to disconnect.
4. Do not wrap the supply cord around the appliance or the soleplate for storage, until it has
cooled down completely. Loop cord loosely around iron when storing.
5. Always disconnect iron from electrical outlet when fi lling with water or emptying and when
not in use.
6. Do not operate iron with a damaged cord or if the iron has dropped, is damaged, or is leak-
ing. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not attempt to open the appliance or dismantle
any parts from the appliance. Please contact any Singer Service Center or SINGER Client
Service.
7. Do not allow children touch the appliance when ironing. Close supervision is necessary for
any appliance being used near children. Do not leave iron unattended while connected or
on an ironing board.
8. Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when you
turn a steam iron upside down – there may be hot water in the reservoir.
9. This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with re-
duced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they
have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way
and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning
and user maintenance shall not be made by children without supervision.
10. The iron must not be left unattended while it is connected to the supply mains.
11. The plug must be removed from the socket-outlet before the water reservoir is fi lled with
water (for steam irons and irons incorporating means of spraying water).
12. The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface.
13. When placing the iron on its stand, ensure that the surface on which the stand is placed is
stable.
14. The iron is not to be used if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage or if it
is leaking.
15. Keep the iron and its cord out of reach of children less than 8 years of age when it is ener-
gized or cooling down.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. To avoid a circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit.
2. If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 10-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated
for less amperage may overheat. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot
be pulled or tripped over.
