FCN key
A fixed (hard-labeled) key used to access the Feature Keys menus: Mute,
Hold, Goodbye, Directory, Inbox, Outbox.
Feature Access Codes (FAC)
Specialized codes entered using the dialpad that enable features, such
as Call Forward.
Feature Keys menu
A list of six non-programmable features that are not linked to fixed keys on
the handset. Feature keys are selected by pressing the number on the
dialpad that corresponds to the number of the item in the menu.
Fixed key
The hard-labeled keys on the handset.
LCD
Liquid crystal display; this is the lighted display area of the handset.
LINE key
A fixed (hard-labeled) key used to access the User Options menu.
Off-hook
Any line selected to make a call or receive an incoming call. The term
off-hook is applied whether (a) the user presses a line key, (b) the call is
automatically answered at the set, or (c) a line is automatically selected
for an outgoing call.
Push-to-talk
The Push-to-talk (PTT) feature on the handset allows it to function as a
walkie-talkie.
Soft keys (self-labeled)
A set of keys programmed by the system administrator. These two rocker
keys are located directly below the display area.
User Options menu
A list of items (Ring Type, Noise Mode, Alias IP Address, Current IP
Address, Extension, Current Call Server, and Terminal Type) that you
use to configure the handset ring type and noise level and view system
information.
