Required Tools

The following tools are necessary to remove or install the rack top frame:
v Ladder
v Stepladder
Ratchet
Ratchet Accessories
Drive Socket
Drive Ratchet
Drive Socket
Torque Tool (part number 6422789)

Remove the Covers

Note: There is no frame extender on the front of the system rack. The rear of the rack has a 4-inch
extender on the top, bottom, left, and right.
This procedure describes how to remove the side covers of the pSeries 655 rack.

3/8-inch Drive, 6 inches Extension X2 (8-inch reach
required)
3/8-inch (10 mm)
1/4-inch
5/16-inch (8 mm)
Included in the tool kit and used for various FRUs, such
as the BPR, BPC, BPDs, and BPFs.
