goes to the main outputs and to the power amplifier
which source is heard.
Recording Selector Buttons 6 J
Press one of the Recording Selector Buttons to select the input signal that goes
to the record outputs. When you are not recording, press the Off button. This
minimizes the chance of interference from other components in the system.
Having a separate Recording and Listening selector adds a significant degree
of flexibility in how you can use the RC-1580MKII. For example by selecting
CD with the Record Selector and selecting Tuner with the Listening Selector
you can record a CD onto a tape while listening to the tuner.
If you have a three-head recorder or a DAT recorder that allows simultaneous
read and write operation, you can monitor your recording by pressing the
TAPE 1 LISTENING button.
NOTE: The TAPE 2 input is a dedicated Theater By-Pass input. See the
information in the Theater Bypass Mode section on the preceding page.
RS232 Connector w
The RC-1580MKII can be controlled via RS232 for integration with
automation systems. The RS232 input accepts a standard straight DB-9
Male-to-Female cable.
For additional information on the connections, software, and operating
codes for computer control of the RC-1580MKII, contact your authorized
Rotel dealer.
EXT REM IN Jack e
This 3.5mm mini-jack receives command codes from industry-standard infrared
receivers via hard-wired connections. This feature could prove useful when
the unit is installed in a cabinet and the front-panel sensor is blocked. Consult
your authorized Rotel dealer for information on these external repeaters and
the proper wiring of a jack to fit the mini-jack receptacle.

Troubleshooting

or, more simply,
Most difficulties in audio systems are the result of incorrect connections,
or improper control settings. If you encounter problems, isolate the area
of the difficulty, check the control settings, determine the cause of the fault
and make the necessary changes. If you are unable to get sound from the
RC-1580MKII, refer to the suggestions for the following conditions:

Standby Indicator Is Not Illuminated

The Standby Indicator ring around the Standby button should be illuminated
whenever the RC-1580MKII is plugged into the wall power outlet. If it does
not light, test the power outlet with another electrical device, such as a
lamp. Be sure the power outlet being used is not controlled by a switch
that has been turned off.

Fuse Replacement

If another electrical device works when plugged into the power outlet, but
the Standby Indicator still will not light when the RC-1580MKII is plugged
into the wall outlet, it indicates that the internal power fuse may have blown.
If you believe this has happened, contact your authorized Rotel dealer to
get the fuse replaced.

No Sound

Check the signal source to see if it is functioning properly. Make sure the
cables from the signal source to the RC-1580MKII inputs are connected
properly. Be sure the Listening Selector is set to the proper input. Check all the
wiring between the RC-1580MKII and the power amplifier, and the speakers.

Resetting the IR Code

If you reset the RC-1580MKII IR code to use the Bypass function, you can
reset it to the default code using the procedure described in the Note in
the Bypass Function section of this manual. Or you can use the front panel
buttons. While RC-1580MKII is turned on, press and hold the Recording
Off button
turn On to indicate the IR code is reset. If the Bypass LED is lit it will turn Off.
