RIDING THE VEHICLE

Pre-Ride Inspection

Perform a pre-ride inspection before each ride to detect any potential prob-
lems during operation. The pre-ride inspection can help you monitor com-
ponent wear and deterioration before they become a problem. Correct any
problems that you discover to reduce the risk of a breakdown or crash. See
an authorized Can-Am dealer as necessary.
Before using this vehicle, the operator should always:
– Remove vehicle lock.
– Apply parking brake and check if it operates properly.
– Check tire pressure and condition.
– Check wheels for damage.
– Verify if steering operates freely.
– Activate throttle lever several times to ensure it operates freely. It must return
to idle position when released.
– Activate the brake lever and brake pedal to make sure the brakes fully apply.
Lever and pedal must fully return when released.
– Ensure transmission lever is working then reset in NEUTRAL position.
– Check drive chain for adjustment and lubrication.
– Check swing arm, if any lateral play is detected DO NOT USE THE VEHICLE.
– Check fuel, engine oil and coolant levels.
– Check for oil leaks on the engine and gearbox.
– Check brake system for fluid leaks.
– Ensure fuel valve is in fully open position (ON).
– Clean headlights, turn signal lamps and brake lamp.
– Ensure front access compartment cover is properly latched.
– Ensure seat is properly latched.
– If you transport cargo, respect load capacity.
– If you are pulling a trailer or other equipment, ensure it respects the tongue ca-
pacity and towing capacity. Ensure trailer is properly secured to hitch.
– Check operation of ignition switch, engine start button, engine stop switch,
headlights and turn signal switches as well as hazard warning button.
– Start engine, remove parking brake and drive forwa rd slowly a few feet then ap-
ply all brakes individually to test them.

Clothing

Actual weather conditions should help you decide how to dress. However, it is
important that the operator always wear the appropriate protective clothing and
apparel, including an approved helmet, eye protection, boots, gloves, long sleeved
shirt and pants. This type of clothing will provide you protection from some of
