Firewood (split logs):
Length: 60 cm

5.4 First time lighting
Always allow the brickwork to dry thoroughly prior to using the
stove. Preferably for 2 weeks to avoid cracks in the brickwork.
• Check that the air vent and the primary air vent are open.
• Place two medium sized logs in/out on each side of the
base.
• Crumple some newspaper (or birch bark) between these and
add some kindling wood in a criss-cross pattern on top and
light the newspaper. Increase the log size gradually and let
the fire burn briskly for a couple of hours. Then let the fire die
out.
This is to be repeated a couple of times.
N.B. Odours when using the stove for the first time.
Painted products.The stove may emit an irritating gas when used
for the first time, and it may smell a little. The gas is not toxic,
but the room should be thoroughly aired out. Let the fire burn
with a high draught until all traces of gas have disappeared and
no smoke or smells can be detected.
5.5 Daily use (fig. 16 - 18)
• Check that the air vent (fig. 17B) is in the right hand
position.
• Then open the primary air vent by moving it to the right (fig
16A).
• Place two medium sized logs in/out on each side of the
base.
• Crumple some newspaper (or birch bark) between these and
add some kindling wood in a criss-cross pattern on top and
light the newspaper. Gradually increase the size of the fire, but
the wood should never be stacked higher than the indicated
maximum mark on the back burn plate (fig. 12E).
• Leave the door slightly open until the logs catch fire.Close the
ignition vent when the firewood has ignited and the fire is
burning briskly.
• Then regulate the rate of combustion to the desired level of
heating by adjusting the primary air vent (attach the handle
to the pin -18C).
Nominal heat emission is achieved when the air vent is open
approximately 50%).
If a guillotine solution is mounted and the product is used with
the door open, necessary actions must be taken to avoid sparks
to ignite combustible materials. Use for example a fire screen.
The air vent (17B) should always be in an open position to avoid
soot accumulating on the glass. If one wants to keep the fire
burning through the night, the air vent may be closed, but be
aware that the glass may accumulate soot.

5.6 Reloading firewood
• Warning! Each fire should burn down to embers before new
firewood is reloaded. Open the handle slightly allowing the
negative pressure to level out prior to opening the door
completely.
• Load the firewood and make sure that the primary vent (16A)
is in a fully open position for a few minutes until the wood
has caught fire.
• Then regulate to the desired degree of heat.
N.B. Remember to re-close the damper.
N.B. Danger of overheating: The stove must never be used in a
manner that causes overheating.
Overheating is defined as overfilling the stove with firewood
and/or leaving the primary air vent fully open.
A sure sign of overheating is when parts of the stove glow red.
When this happens, reduce the products ventilation opening
immediately.
Upon suspicion of excessive/poor draught in the chimney, seek
professional help. See also «2.0 Technical data» and «4.5 Chimney»
for information.
5.7 Using fireplace during the
transition from winter to spring
During a transitional period with sudden fluctuations in
temperature, negative smoke draught or under difficult wind
conditions, disturbances in the chimney draught may occur so
that the smoke gasses are not drawn out.
One should then use less firewood and have a larger opening in
the air vents so that the wood burns fresher and faster. In this
was the draught in the chimney will be maintained.
To avoid accumulated ash, it should be removed more often than
usual. See «6.2 Ash removal».
