OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE ENGINE BREAK-IN RECOMMENDATIONS A long break-in period is not required for the engine and drivetrain (transmission and axle) in your vehicle. Drive moderately during the first 300 miles (500 km). After the initial 60 miles (100 km), speeds up to 50 or 55 mph (80 or 90 km/h) are desirable. While cruising, brief full-throttle acceleration within the limits of local traffic laws contributes to a good break-in.
  • Page 39 OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE It is recommended for the operator to observe the following driving behaviors during the new vehicle break-in period: 0 to 100 miles (0 to 161 km): • Do not allow the engine to operate at idle for an extended period of time. •...

  • Page 46 OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE WARNING! Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a convenience system. It is not a substitute for active driving involvement. It is always the driver’s responsibility to be attentive of road, traffic, and weather conditions, vehicle speed, distance to the vehicle ahead; and, most importantly, brake operation to ensure safe operation of the vehicle under all road conditions.
  • Page 47: Forward Collision Warning (Fcw) With Mitigation

OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (FCW) WITH MITIGATION The Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system with mitigation provides the driver with audible warnings, visual warnings within the DID, and may apply a brake jerk to warn the driver when it detects a potential frontal collision. The warnings and limited braking are intended to provide the driver with enough time to react, avoid or mitigate the potential collision.
  • Page 48 OPERATING YOUR VEHICLE The default status of FCW is the “Far” setting. The far setting provides warnings for potential collisions more distant in front of the vehicle, allowing the driver to have the most reaction time to avoid a collision. This setting is designed to provide early warnings per NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) recommendations.
