Setting up WDS links
Follow these procedures to configure each router for this example. It is assumed that all routers
are set to factory defaults.
Note
The details included for R1 10 #1 configuration are not repeated for R1 10 #2, R1 10 #3, or
R1 10 #4 configuration unless there is a significant difference.
Configure R1 10 #1
1. Connect your computer to one of the router's LAN ports and access the web management
interface using the default IP address 192.168.1.1.
See instructions provided in the HP R100-Series Wireless VPN Routers Quickstart.
2. Set a static IP address for the router.
Select LAN > Settings. Set the IP address to 192.168.5.10, the IP Pool Starting Address
to 192.168.5.1 1, and the IP Pool Ending Address to 192.168.5.254.
Click Save, and then restart the web browser session using the IP address 192.168.5.10.
3. Select a common operating channel.
For routers to communicate, they must all transmit and receive on the same channel. Select
Wireless > Basic. Select the radio band and select a channel that is unlikely to interfere
with other devices in nearby networks.
Note
The HP R120 has separate wireless settings for the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.
