Brake-pad wear limit,
parking brake
min 1.0 mm (The wear in-
dicators (grooves) must be
clearly visible.)
If the brake pads are worn past
the minimum permissible thick-
ness:
If the brake pads are per-
mitted to wear past the
minimum permissible thickness
braking performance is reduced
and there is the possibility of the
Scooter moving even with the
side stand extended.
In order to avoid the risk of the
Scooter toppling off its stand,
do not permit the brake pads to
wear past the specified minimum
thickness.
Have the brake pads replaced
by a specialist workshop,
preferably an authorised BMW
Motorrad dealer.
Checking brake-fluid
level, front brakes
A low fluid level in the
brake reservoir can allow air
to penetrate the brake system.
This significantly reduces braking
efficiency.
Check the brake-fluid level at
regular intervals.
Make sure the ground is level
and firm and place the Scooter
on its centre stand.

Check the brake fluid level in
right brake fluid reservoir 1.
Wear of the brake pads
causes the brake fluid level
in the reservoir to sink.
