How to Operate the Surround Mode

The MHT100 provides eight different Surround Modes.
The Front Panel Al-
phanumeric Display
indicates the Sur-
round Mode se-
lected. The Sur-
round Mode Se-
lected is stored into
permanent memory
and automatically
recalled any time that particular input is selected again. If
the Surround Mode is changed when the input is again se-
lected, the new mode will be active and stored. Refer to
figure 47.
Note: The Remote Control may also be used to make changes
to the Surround Modes. Refer to figure 51.
Approximately 3 seconds after selecting a new Surround
Mode Setting the Front Panel Alphanumeric Display
will change from indicating that mode to the normal
display of Input and Volume.
Stereo
Analog Input Signals Sources are sent to the Left and Right
Loudspeakers. All Multi-channel Signal Sources are com-
bined and reduced to 2 channels in the Stereo Mode. Refer
to figures 47 and 48.
Music 1
This processing mode creates an effect of natural ambient
time delay similar to listening in a very large room or a me-
dium size hall. A Difference Signal is created from the Left
and Right Front Channels. The Difference Signal is de-
layed a medium amount of time and is sent to the Left and
Right Surround Loudspeakers. The Front Panel Alphanu-
meric Display will indicate MUSIC 1. Refer to figures 47
and 49.
Music 2
This processing mode creates an effect of natural ambient
time delay similar to listening in a small room. A Differ-
ence Signal is created from the Left and Right Front Chan-
nels. The Difference Signal is delayed for a short time and

Front Panel Alphanumeric Dis-
play will indicate MUSIC 2.

Music 3
This processing mode creates
an effect of natural ambient
time delay similar to listening in
a small room with a softer
sound. A Difference Signal is
created from the Left and Right
Front Channels. The Difference
Signal is delayed for a medium
amount of time and is sent to
the Left and Right Surround
Loudspeakers. The Front Panel
Alphanumeric Display will in-
dicate MUSIC 3. Refer to fig-
ures 47 and 52.
Music 4
This processing mode creates
an effect of time delay similar
to listening in a very large hall
or outside. A Difference Signal
is created from the Left and
Right Front Channels. The Dif-
ference Signal is delayed for a
medium amount of time and is sent to the Left and Right
Surround Loudspeakers. The Front Panel Alphanumeric
Display will indicate MUSIC 4 and the Front Panel EX-
PAND Indicator will be illuminated. Refer to figures 47
and 53.
