CPU module

The Toshiba Magnia 3310/3310R server supports dual-CPU configurations, allowing you
to install an additional processor or replace existing processors to increase system
performance.
The base Toshiba Magnia 3310/3310R server is configured with a single CPU module
with a specified frequency (clock speed) and cache size. If your server has a dual-CPU
configuration, or you are upgrading your server to a dual-CPU configuration, you must
install CPU modules with the same speed, cache size, and connector technology.
For example, if you wish to upgrade a Toshiba Magnia 3310/3310R server configured
with a single 2.40 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache CPU module to a dual-CPU configuration, you
would install an additional 2.40 GHz, 512 KB L2 cache CPU module.
Continuing this example, if you were upgrading the server to run dual 3.06 GHz CPU
modules, you would need to replace the CPU shipped with the server with a 3.06 GHz
CPU module and install an additional 3.06 GHz module.
To avoid a system failure, never install CPU modules with different clock speeds or
cache sizes.
When setting up the server with a single CPU configuration, install the CPU in
CPU socket 1. Installing a CPU only in CPU socket 2 is not supported.
