Connecting Hardware Devices
When performing server maintenance:
Use the appropriate type and size of screwdriver. A screwdriver that is too small or
too large can damage the screw head. Check the screw type before use.

Be careful not to lose any removed screws or drop them inside the server.
Use the same type of screws when installing devices.

Cooling fans

The server contains the following cooling fans:
Intake fan module located in the bottom front section of the server.
Exhaust fan module located at the rear of the server.
EPS-R cage cooling fans.
To increase system reliability, secondary intake and exhaust fans can be installed,
allowing you to create a redundant cooling configuration.
The primary intake fan module and the primary exhaust fan module comprise the
primary fan configuration for this server, while the secondary intake fan module and
secondary exhaust fan module comprise the redundant fan configuration.

Removing and installing an intake fan

This section provides instructions for removing and installing an intake fan.

If the server is in operation, shut it down and remove the access panel. For
instructions, read Steps 1 through 4 in
Removing a cooling fan while the server is on could result in electric shock, and
shorten the service life of both the fan and the server.
