1. Rem ove
the
pressure
fill cap from the heat exchanger.

2. Wash the
cap with clean water to remove any debris
or
deposits from
its sealing surfaces.

cuts,
cracks.

cap
if
the seal is
damaged.

to a
cooling
system

sure lester, using
the adapters

the
tester.

to 13 psi (90 kPa).

cap fails
to
hold pressure for )0 seconds wit

dropping under

psi (76 kPa). rep

. Inspect the filler nec
k

t
and
sealing sur
face

32) for
nicks,
dents
,
distort
ion
or
contamination.
Wipe
the
sca
ling surface
wit
h
a clea
n cloth
to
remove
any
rust or
dirt. Make sure
the
locking cams are not
bent
or
damaged .

Check
coolant
level.
It
shou ld
be
within

in. (25.4
mm) ofthc
filler
neck
.

nect
the cooling system
pressu re
tester
to
the
filler
neck and
pressur ize
the
system to 15 psi (104 kPa)

potential leak

leakage.
Listen for
a hissing
or bubbling sound while the

found. disconnect

seawater outlet
hose
from the
heat exc
hanger
(Figur e 34
). Repressurize
the
system 10

(104 kPa
)
and note the outl
et connec-
tion
on the
heat exc
hanger. lf water flow

from the
con-
nect
ion,
air bubbles
are
visible in the water or a bubbling
or hissing noise is heard .

is probably
a leak between
the fresh
and
sea
water sections within the heal exchanger.
