This chapter covers the MS-7206 hardware connections and LEDs. All connections and LEDs
are on the front panel.

8.1 Module Connections

The following describes how to connect the front panels of the management modules and
interface modules.

MGMT Connect to a computer using an RJ-45 Ethernet cable for local configuration (see

ALARM Connect this DB-15 connector to alarm input and alarm output terminals on other pieces

1~48 Use the following copper Ethernet cables to connect these electrical Ethernet interfaces
to computers, Ethernet switches or routers. See

a). 100Base-Tx 2-pair UTP Cat. 5e, up to 100m
b). 1000Base-T 4-pair UTP Cat. 5e, up to 100m

For better performance and lower radiation noise, use shielded Ethernet cables.
MI-7248TF (Fiber Interface Module)
1~24 Use mini-GBIC transceivers in these slots for fiber-optic connections to backbone
Ethernet switches (see
25~48 Use the following copper Ethernet cables to connect these electrical Ethernet interfaces
