Chapter 7 Installing Cards

7.5 Power Adaptor Card Installation

The upper right of the MS-7206's front panel contains two slots for MPC-7202 PoE power

adaptor cards. A MPC-7202 power adaptor card sends power from a MP-7202 power injector,

through the back plane to PoE interface modules like the MI-7248PWR.

• You need one MP-7202 power injector for each PoE interface module.

• One power adaptor card can connect up to two MP-7202 power injectors to PoE interface

modules.

• Install the MP-7202 power injector(s) above the MS-7206 in the rack.

• Connect MP-7202s to a power adaptor card in the left slot to power PoE interface modules

in slots 3 and/or 4.

• Connect MP-7202s to a power adaptor card in the right slot to power PoE interface

modules in slots 5 and/or 6.

• Leave the slot covers on unused slots.

Refer to the following graphic and instructions to install power adaptor cards.

1 Grasp the center of the front panel of the power adaptor card with one hand and place

your other hand under the power adaptor card to support it.

2 Slide the power adaptor card into the slot until it makes contact with the backplane.

3 Use a screwdriver to tighten the two screws.
