10) Ignition System:
10.1) General:
The engine is equipped wirh a breakerless 12V 170W DUCAII capacito!-discharge dual
ignition. It consists of a flywheel magneto generato!, 2 double ignition coils widr integrated
control-circuir and 2 external triggers (pick-up).
The 12-pole flywheel genentor is an outerrotor type with 12 integated permanent magnetos.
The stator is equipped with 12 coils. 8 of them are used for feeding auxiliary equipment and
4 are used for the dual ignition. The grey cable is foreseen t'or connection of a tachomerer.
10.2) Function of the ignition unit:

eachignition circuit. The energy suppliedis stored in the ignition capacitor. At the Eoment of
ignition the external niggers supply an impulse to the confolcircuirs and the ignirion conden-
sors arc discharged via the primary winding of rhe ignition coil. The secondary winding sup-
plies tle high vohage for the ignition spark.
ATTENTION: When flying balb ignirion sysrems musr b€ swirched ON!
10.3) Checking of ignition unit:
Before every staJt the function of the rwo iglition systems has to be checked. For checking the
ignition unit rhe engine musrbe operated at 3000 to 3500 ymin and alrernately ignirion system
1 and 2 must be switched off. The RPM-dop must nor exceed max. 300 l/min.

ATTENTION: With enginerunning the triggercable (red) musttrot b€ disconnecredfiom rhe
electronic box. This could desroy the electronic box.
