    Terminal Description 1- Introduction The ELITE 790 is a portable payment terminal for a radio transmission module (voice + data) using the GSM standard and a modem for PSTN communications. This terminal was created to process all payments made by magnetic or smart cards.

    5- The Keyboard - Utilisation key gives the operator access to all of the different menus on the terminal including the “system” menu which manages the standard functions of the Elite 790, such as: modification of the date and the time, modification download line parameters.

    If the terminal is placed on the charger after each transaction, a “slow charge” must be used to protect the battery. In portable mode, the ELITE 790 terminal will switch to power save mode after 50 seconds of inactivity or if the key is pressed.

    July 2003 Practical Information 1- Charging the battery pack A base station is provided with the terminal which recharges the standalone battery pack or the terminal when placed on the base station. The green indicator at front at the base indicates that a current is flowing into the battery pack. Warning Before using the terminal for the first time, the batteries must be fully charged.

    ELITE 790 Terminal 2- Cleaning Procedures The plastic used in the construction of this terminal may be damaged if cleaned with strong solvents. The following is a list of recommendations for cleaning the terminal and its base. • Clean the outside of the terminal with a soft cloth moistened with a mild detergent solution.

    July 2003 V- Recommendations 1- Security In order to ensure that software integrity self-test is performed periodically, it is necessary to restart (disconnect-reconnect) the terminal at least once per day. This terminal has no power switch. The power supply is the only device used to switch off power to the terminal.
