Video files can have associated caption files. Typically, these caption files have .SMI extensions.
Medi@ TV Viewer can display a caption over the video if there is a .SMI file with the same file
name as the video file in the same folder.
You can show or hide captions during video playback by pressing the [
control. The caption is displayed in the bottom area of the screen, and the 'Caption ON' / 'Caption
OFF' message is displayed in the upper left corner of the screen.
Some .SMI files can have multiple sets of captions in multiple languages. In that case, pressing
[
] will cycle through OFF -> First Caption -> Second Caption.
The [Caption] setting on the [Video Option] screen determines the initial caption status.
Note: SMI is a Microsoft-defined caption format.
Note: You can only view captions with movies that support caption files. If you press the
caption button when the movie does not support captions, the '
the upper-left corner of the screen.
The caption is displayed in white, and it may not be seen clearly if the background video is bright.
In this case, you can add a shadow under the caption so that the caption may be seen more clearly.
By pressing the left or right move button ([ ],[ ]) on the remote control, you can toggle the
shadow of the caption.

Caption files include the sync information of each caption. When the caption does not fit well
with the video (when the caption is faster or slower than the audio), you can adjust the sync
information on the Viewer.

Adjusting Caption Sync
When there is a big difference between caption and audio, you can apply the correct caption by
looking at the caption list. If you press [
I
] on the remote control, a caption list like that shown
below will be shown on the screen.
From this screen, you can use the [
I
], [
caption up and down the caption list. After selecting the correct caption, press the [OK] button
on the remote control. The selected caption will be applied to the current screen, and the cap-
tion will be shown correctly with the audio throughout the movie.
Detailed Adjustment
You can adjust caption sync in seconds. If you press the [
Caption Sync Information on the screen.
The sync of currently playing video is 00:00. You can adjust the sync in seconds. If you press
the [
I
] button, the slider will move to negative and the captions will become advanced. If you
press the [
I
] button, the slider will move to positive and the captions will be delayed. Use the
[ ] and [ ] buttons on the remote control to move the sync slider.
For example, if you set the sync by -00:02, the captions will be shown 2 seconds faster. After
setting the correct sync, press the [OK] button.
