When new stations in the same band are programmed
in switches PRESET 12KEY containing preset stations,
the previously stored stations are cleared.
Ifthe memorv contents should be lost because of a loss
.
of power due to a power failure or other such condition,
programme the stations again.
Listening to the radio
1. Select "TUNER" as the function using the TUNER switch.
2. Select the band using the BAND SELECT switch.
(Procedure 1)
3. Press one of the PRESET 12KEY switches on the remote
controller and tune in the desired station. The present
time is repiaced by the preset number on the display,
and the corresponding frequency is dispiayed.
After about 5 seconds, the preset number is repiaced
again by the present time on the dispiay.
(Procedure 2)
3. Press the SCAN switch on the remote controller and
tune
in the desired station.
Each of the preset stations are tuned in for about 5
seconds each. (Once all the preset numbers in the band
have been successively tuned in, a return is made to the
original reception state.)
When the desired station has been tuned in, press the
SCAN switch again to keep the reception locked at that
station.
- The preset number is replaced by the present time on
the display.
The "STEREO" display lights when a stereo broadcast
from a station in the FM band is tuned in.
When a different band is selected, the station heard
previously in that band will be tuned in.
When the power is switched on, the iast station heard
before the power was switched off will be received in the
mode which applied.
if TV noise shouid interfere with AM or FM reception,
either turn off the TV set or piace the unit at a distance
from the TV set.
Beat noise may be heard when iisteningtothe
radio with
an audio-video component
connected.
in a case like
this, turn off the power to the component concerned.
MODE switch (remote controiier)
If the signals from an FM stereo station are weak and
reception is poor, press the MODE switch and change to
monaural reception. (The "STEREO" display goes out and
is replaced by "MONO" which lights up.)
if the MONO mode is established and the station is
programmed during FM reception, this mode will also be
programmed at the same time.
BEFORE TAPE OPERATION
Types of usabie tapes
The type of tape used is automatically identfied by the
system since decks 1 and 2 both em-ploy an auto-tape
selection system. The following 2types of tape can be used
with this system.
Normal
Cr02
Note:
Cr02tapes
without sensing holes cannot be used since
they cannot be identified by the auto selector.
Endless tapes cannot be used.
Material cannot be recorded onto a cassette tape whose
accidental erasure prevention tabs have been broken
out.
If a tape with one of its tabs aiready broken out is
recorded, the tape wiil not be reversed automatically,
and it will stop.
Do not use C-120tapes. They may jam the head section.
Accidental erasure prevention tabs (for protecting valu-
able recordings)
Accidental erasure can be prevented by breaking out th
tabs on the end of the cassette tape (where the tape is ndr
exposed) using a screwdriver or similar implement (Fig. 18).
If a tab is broken out in error and you wish to re-record the
tape, simpiy block up the tab hoie using cellophane tape
and the tape can be used for recording again.
Doiby Noise Reduction system
Dolby Noise Reduction circuitry provides superior record-
ing and piayback results by suppressing tape hiss by up to
10 dB for virtually noise free recordings.

LISTENING TO TAPES

Deck 1 is for playback oniy; deck 2 is for both playback and
recording. Both are auto reverse decks.

Set the KARAOKE switch to MUSiC (except karaoke
play),
Press the EJECT button to open the cassette hoider.
Load the cassette tape.
To load, piace the tape with its exposed end at the
bottom. After the tape has been ioaded, push the cas-
sette holder back into position.
Set the DOLBY NR switch to the desired position.
ON:
For a tape recorded using the Doiby NR system
OFF:
For a
tape which
has not been recorded using the
Dolby NR system.
Select the deck 1 or deck 2 by pressing the DECK select
switch.
Playback commences
when the PLAY
or 4 PiAY
switch is pressed.
