Problem
The base unit beeps.
I cannot page a cordless
handset or base unit.
Caller information is not
displayed.
While viewing caller
information, the display
returns to standby mode.
12.3.3 Cordless handset
Problem
The cordless handset
does not work.
The cordless handset
display is blank.
The cordless handset will
not turn ON.
w is flashing.
The cordless handset
does not ring.
The batteries should be
charging but the battery
icon does not change.
A busy tone is heard when
{C} is pressed.

Cause & Solution
L The recording paper has run out. Press {STOP} to stop the beeps
and install recording paper.
L The unit has recorded new voice messages. Press {STOP} to stop
the beeps and listen to the recorded messages (page 56, 57).
L The called cordless handset is too far from the base unit.
L The called unit is in use. Try again later.
L You have not subscribed to Caller ID service.
L The caller requested not to send his/her information.
L Depending on the service of the local telephone company, caller
information may not be displayed on the cordless handset in
TEL/FAX mode. In this case, change the TEL/FAX ring setting to 1
(feature #78 on page 67).
L Do not pause for over 1 minute on the cordless handset or 3
minutes on the base unit while searching.
Cause & Solution
L Make sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 6).
L Fully charge the batteries (page 8).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
L Turn the cordless handset power OFF, then ON (page 18).
L Check that the power cord is connected properly.
L The cordless handset has not been registered to the base unit.
Register the cordless handset (page 77).
L Re-install the batteries (page 6) and fully charge them.
L The cordless handset is not turned ON. Turn the power ON (page
18).
L Make sure that the batteries are installed correctly (page 6).
L Fully charge the batteries (page 8).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
L The cordless handset is not registered to the base unit. Register it
(page 77).
L The cordless handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer.
L The power cord is not connected. Check the connections.
L You are using the cordless handset or base unit in an area with
high electrical interference. Locate the cordless handset and base
unit away from interference sources, such as antenna and mobile
phones.
L The night mode feature is turned ON. Turn it OFF (page 33).
L The ringer volume is turned OFF. Adjust it (page 18).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 8).
L The AC adaptor is disconnected. Plug in the AC adaptor.
L The cordless handset is too far from the base unit. Move closer and
try again.
L The base unit or another cordless handset is on an outside call.
Wait for the other user to complete the call.
