All drives grouped into the same drive array must meet the following criteria:
They must be either all SAS or all SATA.
o
They must be either all hard drives or all solid state drives.
o
For the most efficient use of drive space, the drives must have approximately the same capacity.
o
Each configuration utility treats every physical drive in an array as if it has the same capacity as the
smallest drive in the array. Any excess capacity of a particular drive cannot be used in the array and
so is unavailable for data storage.

Installing a non-hot-plug drive

CAUTION:
all bays are populated with either a component or a blank.
To install the component:
Power down the server (on page 18).

Remove all power:

Disconnect each power cord from the power source.

Disconnect each power cord from the server.
b.
Place the server on its side.
3.
Remove the access panel (on page 18).
4.
Remove the front bezel (on page 20).
5.
If installed, remove the PCI air baffle (on page 22).
6.
Remove the system air baffle (on page 23).
7.
Disconnect all existing drive cage cables.
8.
Remove the installed drive cage assembly.
9.
Use the screws on the drive cage to install the drives.
10.
To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless
