    Equipment guidelines Grounding equipment must include either a wrist strap or a foot strap at a grounded workstation. ● When seated, wear a wrist strap connected to a grounded system. Wrist straps are flexible straps with a minimum of one megohm ±10% resistance in the ground cords. To provide proper ground, wear a strap snugly against the skin at all times.

The computer uses an electric fan for ventilation. The fan is controlled by a temperature sensor and is designed to turn on automatically when high temperature conditions exist.

    Heat sink assembly Description Spare part number Heat sink 776776-001 NOTE: To properly ventilate the computer, allow at least 7.6 cm (3 in) of clearance on the left side of the computer. The computer uses an electric fan for ventilation. The fan is controlled by a temperature sensor and is designed to turn on automatically when high temperature conditions exist.

Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps: Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly subcomponents: Remove the two display bezel screw covers (1) and the two Phillips M2.5×5.0 screws (2) that secure the display bezel to the display assembly. The display bezel screw covers are included in the display bezel spare part kit, spare part number 676644-001, and in all display assembly subcomponent spare part kits.
  • Page 80 Remove the display bezel (6). The display bezel is available using spare part number 776774-001. CAUTION: Be sure the work surface is clear of all tools, screws, and computer components before turning the display panel upside down on the work surface. If it is necessary to replace the display panel: Remove the four Phillips M2.0×3.5 screws (1) that secure the display panel to the display enclosure.
  • Page 81 Disconnect the display panel cable (2) from the display panel and remove the panel (3). If it is necessary to replace the webcamera/microphone module: Disconnect the webcamera/microphone module cable (1) from the webcamera/microphone module. (The webcamera/microphone module cable is part of the display panel cable.) Detach the webcamera/microphone module (2) from the display enclosure.
  • Page 82 Remove the hinges and brackets (3) from the display enclosure. If it is necessary to replace the display panel cable: Release the display panel cable from the clips (1) and routing channel built into the display enclosure. Carefully release the cable from the channel guides (2) and remove the display panel cable (3). If it is necessary to replace the wireless antenna cables and transceivers: Release the wireless antenna transceivers (1) from the display enclosure.

    Restoring and recovering your system Creating recovery media and backups After you successfully set up the computer, create HP Recovery media. This step creates a backup of the HP Recovery partition on the computer. The backup can be used to reinstall the original operating system in cases where the hard drive is corrupted or has been replaced.
