CRANKSHAFT ITRANSMISSION/KICKSTARTER
INSPECTION
Measure the connecting rod big end side clearance
with
a
feeler gauge.
SERV ICE LIMIT: 0.60 mm (0.024 in)
Measure the connecting rod big end radial clear-
ance at symmetrical points as shown.
SERVICE LIMIT: 0.05 mm (0.002 in)
Turn the outer race of the crankshaft bearing with
your finger.
The bearing shou ld turn smoothly and quietly.
A lso check that the inner race of the bearing fits
tightly on the crankshaft.
Check the timing sprocket for wear or damage.
If you are replacing the timing sprocket, align the
valley of the sprocket teeth with the center of woo-
druff key groove as shown.
