Centering the Steering Gear
1. Make sure the key-switch is in the "OFF" position, then remove
the key.
2. Place the forward-reverse switch in the center "OFF" position.
3. Set the park brake.
4. Place blocks under the front wheels to prevent vehicle
movement.
5. Disconnect the main positive and negative cables at the
batteries.
6. Raise the front of the vehicle and support with jack stands.
Always use a lifting strap, hoist, and jack stands, of
adequate capacity to lift and support the vehicle. Failure
to use lifting and support devices of rated load capacity
may result in serious bodily injury.

6. Using the appropriate tool, remove the pitman
arm from the steering gear.
NOTE: Secure the pitman arm and drag link so they
do not hang.
7. Turn the steering gear all the way to the left.
Now turn the steering gear to the right counting
the number of turns all the way to the right.
8. Turn the steering gear back half the number of
turns, and secure it so it can not move.
9. Position the wheels, poinitng straight ahead.
Reinstall the pitman arm, the drag link may need
to be adjusted to maintain the position of the
wheels and the steering gear.
NOTE: Torque the pitman arm nut to 75-100 ft. lbs.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Reconnect the main positive and negative cables
at the batteries.
12. Remove the blocks from behind the wheels.
13. Release the park brake and test drive the vehicle.
