Precautions and Limitations

When Printing is displayed immediately after switching on the printer even no data have
been sent, press Stop.
When the printing is not allowed to end normally such as by cancelling printing, the
command information sent from the host will not be reflected in the control panel.
• When installing the hard disk, the "lpd/PD" item of Common Menu > Maintenance Mode >
Memory Change > ReceiveBufferMem will not be displayed. Also, the printer will not save any
memory at this time.
• When the hard disk is initialized, all the data registered in it will be erased.
• Depending on the option of the additional RAM module, the number of files registered in the
hard disk that can be called up at one time is restricted by the additional memory capacity.
• When the hard disk and the additional RAM module are installed with a large number of files
registered in the hard disk, the printer might not be able to start up if the additional RAM
module is removed.
In this situation, either switch off the power and remove the hard disk or install the additional
RAM module.
Due to insufficient memory capacity, the following printing results which differ from
the setting might happen. In these cases, it is recommended that memory allocation be
changed or memory be increased.
• Set at 600 dpi but printed at 400 dpi.
• Set at two-sided printing but printed on one side only.
• Job is stopped. (When a page processing cannot be carried on in the page buffer, the job
including that page will be stopped.)
• The message "Job Halted. (Insufficient XXXXX Memory)" or "Insufficient XXXXX Memory.
The process is aborted." is printed in the "Printing Status" column of the Print History Listing.
• The message "PCL XL error" is printed on paper. (This message is also printed when an illegal
command is executed.)
