AUDIO PROBLEMS
Symptoms
An echo is heard at the Near
End when speaking.
Near End or Far End cannot
hear the VCR audio.
VIDEO PROBLEMS
Symptoms
Picture is blank on the main
monitor.
Same picture is seen on first
and second monitors.
Picture freezes often during a
call.
Picture is slow or jerky.
Cause
Echoes are always
caused by the Far End.
The far-end microphone
may be too near the
speaker that the Far End
uses to hear the Near
End.
The far-end audio volume
may be too loud.
VCR input is not selected.
Cause
System goes into "sleep"
mode after 10 minutes of
inactivity.
Monitors are connected
to the same output. The
first monitor has a
composite output as well
as an S-video output.
ISDN line transmission
errors (check the Error
Count under the
Diagnostics menu).
Only one 64K channel is
connecting in your call.
Lots of motion in the
picture you are receiving.
VSGi - Polycom ViewStation End-user Training Guide
Solution
At the Far End, make sure
the microphone is placed
away from the audio
speaker.
Turn down the audio
volume at the Far End.
Turn on the VCR audio
input by selecting the
NEAR key twice and then
selecting the VCR icon.
Solution
Pick up the remote control.
System will wake up.
Connect the second
monitor to the Monitor 2
connection on the rear
panel of the ViewStation.
Check your system by
doing a local loop back
under the Diagnostics
menu. If the picture does
not freeze, perform the
same test at the far-end
system. Perform a far-end
loop back during a call. If
the picture freezes, there
are line errors on your
ISDN lines.
You can also test this by
placing a video call to an
ISDN loop back provided to
you by your service
provider.
Check the ISDN number of
the Far End. Ask the Far
End to call your site.
A background with less
motion will provide a better,
smoother video picture.
