5. Thermo unit
S Remove the thermo unit from the thermostat
housing.
S Connect the pocket tester (Ω  1) to the ter-
mo unit
as shown.

S Immerse the termo unit in a container filled
with coolant
.

NOTE:
Make sure the termo unit terminals do not
get wet.
S Place a thermometer
S Slowly heat the coolant, and then let it cool
to the specified temperature indicated in the
table.
S Check the thermo unit for continuity at the
temperatures indicated in the table.
Termo unit resistance
80_C (176_F): 3.41 X 4.00 Ω
105_C (221_F): 1.65 X 1.86 Ω
WARNING
S Handle the termo unit with special care.
S Never subject the thermo unit to strong
shocks. If the thermo unit is dropped, re-
place it.
Thermo unit
15 Nm (1.5 mSkg, 11 ftSlb)
Three bond sealock
S Does the thetmo unit operate properly?
YES
in the coolant.

6. Fan motor relay
S Disconnect the fan motor relay coupler from
the wire harness.
S Connect the pocket tester (Ω
tery (12 V) to the fan mtor relay coupler as
shown.
Positive battery terminal ! brown
Negative battery terminal !
Positive tester probe ! brown
Negative tester probe ! blue
S Does the fan motor relay have continuity be-
tween brown and blue?
YES

7. Wiring
S Check the entire cooling system's wiring.
Refer to "CIRCUIT DIAGRAM".
S Is the cooling system's wiring properly con-
nected and without defects?
YES
This circuit is OK.
