Appendix M: Daylight Saving Time on your DVR

This DVR supports automatic Daylight Savings Time adjustments and Network Time
Protocol (NTP), which allows you to sync your DVR's time with a online time server. For
details, see "Configuring Daylight Savings Time (DST)" on page 21 or see "Using a NTP
Server to set your System Time" on page 22.
NOTE: You must configure and enable automatic DST on your DVR even to use this feature.

Why is the DVR Timestamp Important?

Your DVR's time stamp is crucial when submitting surveillance video as court evidence. It
is highly recommended to double-check that your system has the proper time, even if your
system supports automatic DST adjustments.
When should I adjust my system clock?
In North America, most cities observe DST.
• In March: the clock moves one hour forward
• In November: the clock moves one hour backward
The specific date in the month where DST starts and ends varies each year. The table
below applies to North America only.
