Never disconnect battery cables when the engine is running.
The batteries
(Figures 3-41 & 3-42)
provide high capacity current plus cold cranking performance. The batteries are not maintenance free
thus requiring periodic maintenance. To keep your batteries in good condition at a minimum you should:
Maintain the water level in the battery cells.

Keep the terminals clean.
•
Keep the case clean.
•
Keep the battery charged.
•
Many variables affect the life of a battery. Some of these are, but not limited to:

•
Charging
•
Age
•
Always inspect the condition of the battery. When inspecting
A low water level may cause the batteries to fail or possibly explode. Therefore take
corrective action immediately. If you must replace one battery, replace them all.
