Foam Class PFDs

Foam type PFDs are inherently buoyant and are used for:
• Adult, Youth, Child, and Infants
• Swimmers, poor swimmers, and non-swimmers

The throwable PFD is only available in the Foam Class.

Inflatable Class PFDs

The inflatable PFD may be more comfortable to wear but may not be used by children under 16 years of
age. Each inflatable PFD must have an operational gas cylinder and the individual must be knowledge-
able in its use and the condition of the PFD. Inflatable PFDs may not satisfy the requirement to carry
PFDs, as established by Federal Regulations.
