Thru-Hull Fittings and Seacocks
Each boat has thru-hulls associated with it. Depending upon the model and engine configuration of your
boat, it may also include one or more seacocks which allows for raw water engine cooling.
The following page shows CAD drawings for RK/RJ boat models, including seacock and thru-hull
locations. It is your responsibility to become familiar with the drawings.
Most seacocks are equipped with a shut-off feature, normally in the form of a ball-valve. Each seacock
should be exercised periodically to ensure proper function and to prevent corrosion accumulation.
A seawater strainer, attached to the seacock, protects the system from foreign objects that may enter
the seacock. The strainer should be periodically cleaned and inspected for effective operation.
