Setting the Focal Length

The Shake Reduction function operates by obtaining the lens information
such as focal length. Set the focal length when using a lens for which focal
length information cannot be automatically obtained.

Make sure that [Shake Reduction] is set to Q (On), and
turn the camera off.
Refer to "Taking Pictures Using the Shake Reduction Function" (p.100)
for details.

Attach a lens, and turn the camera on.
The [Input Focal Length] screen appears.

Use the e-dial to set the focal
length.
Select from the following focal length
values. (The default setting is 35 mm.)

• If the focal length for your lens is not listed above, select the value closest to
the actual focal length (example: [18] for 17 mm and [100] for 105 mm).
• When using a zoom lens, select the actual focal length at the zoom setting
being used in the same manner.

Press the 4 button.
The camera is ready to take a picture.
• To change the focal length setting, use [Input Focal Length] in the [A Rec.
Mode 2] menu.
• When using a lens without an s position on the aperture or with the aperture
set to a position other than s, set [16. Using Aperture Ring] in the [A Custom
Setting 3] menu to [Enable]. (p.235)
