iMPORTANT: if removing the batteryfor any reason,disconnectthe
NEGATIVE (Black) wirefrom itsterminalfirst, followedby the POSI-
TIVE (Red)wire.When re-installing the battery,alwaysconnectthe
POSITIVE (Red) wireto itsterminalfirst, followedbythe NEGATIVE
(Black)wire. Be certainthat the wiresare connectedto the correct
terminals;reversingthemcouldchangethe polarityand result in
damageto yourengine'salternatingsystem.
Cleaning
Battery
Cleanthe batteryby removingitfrom thetractorand washingwith
a bakingsodaand watersolution,ifnecessary,scrapethe battery
terminalswith a wirebrushto removedeposits.Coatterminalsand
exposedwiringwith greaseor petroleum jelly to preventcorrosion.

Thesefailuresare NOTcoveredbyyourtractor'swarranty.
JUMP STARTING
Neverjump starta damagedor frozenbattery.Be certain thevehicles
do nottouch,and ignitions a re off. Do not allowcableclampsto
touch.

Connectpositive(+)cableto positivepost (+)of yourtractor's
dischargedbattery.
2.
Connectthe otherend of the cableto thepositive(+)post of the
jumperbattery.
3.
Connectthe secondcable negative(-) to the negativepost (-) of
thejumper battery.
4.
Connectthe otherend of the negativecableto the engineblock of
the tractor,awayfromthe battery.Attachto an unpaintedpartto
assurea good connection.
If thejumperbatteryis installedon a vehicle (i.e.car, truck),do NOT
start the vehicle'senginewhenjump startingyourtractor.
5.
Startthe tractor(as instructedin theOperationsectionof this
manual).
6.
Setthe tractor'sparkingbrakebeforeremovingthejumpercables,
in reverseorder of connection.

If yourtractorhas notbeen put intouse foran extendedperiod of time,
chargethe batteryas follows:
1.
Set yourbatterychargerto delivera max of 10 amperes.
If yourbatterychargeris automatic,chargethebatteryuntilthe
chargerindicatesthat chargingis complete.If thechargeris not
automatic,chargefor no fewerthan eighthours.
FUSE
One 15AMPfuseisinstalled inyourtractor's wiringharness toprotectthe
tractor'selectrical s ystem fromdamagecausedbyexcessive amperage.
If the electricalsystemdoes notfunction,or your tractor'senginewill
not crank;first checkto be certainthat thefuse has not blown.It can
be foundunderthe fenderon the left side of the unit, on the wiring
harnessjust abovethe battery.
Alwaysusea fusewith the sameamperagecapacityfor replacement.
LUBRICATION
Beforelubricating,repairing,or inspecting,alwaysdisengagePTO
(BladeEngageLever),move shiftleverinto neutralposition,set
parkingbrake,stop engineand removekeyto preventunintended
starting.
Pivot Points
& Linkage
Lubricate all the pivot pointson the drivesystem,parkingbrakeand lift
linkage at leastoncea seasonwith light oil.
Rear Wheels
The rear wheelsshouldbe removedfrom the axlesonce a season.
Lubricate the axles and the rims wellwith an all-purposegreasebefore
re-installing them.
Front Axles
Eachend ofthetractor'sfrontpivotbarmaybe equipped witha grease
fitting.Lubricate witha greasegunafterevery25 hoursof tractoroperation.
Steering
Rack & Pinion
Once per season,or every 25 hoursof operation,it will be necessary
to lubricatethe steeringrackand piniongear locatedunderthe frontof
the unit. Usingstandardautomotive grease,applygreaseto thefront
side and rear sideof the steeringrack,as indicatedin Fig.41.
