Threadthe ferruleinwardto "toe-in"the wheels,or outwardto
"toe-out"the wheels.

Reinsertthe tie-rodferruleintothe rightside axleassemblyand
securewith the bow-tiecotterpin removedin Step 1.
NOTE: Threadingthe ferruletoo far ontothetie-rod willcause
the fronttires to "toe-in"too far. Propertoe-in is between1/16"
and 5/16".
Front tire toe-in
can be measured
as follows:
1.
Placethe steeringwheelin positionfor straightaheadtravel.
2.
In front of the axle,measurethedistancehorizontally from
the insideof the left rim to the insideof the rightrim. Notethe
distance.
3.
Behindthe axle, measurethe distancehorizontallyfromthe inside
of the left rimto the insideof the right rim.Note the distance.
4.
Themeasurement t aken in front of theaxle shouldbe between
1/16"and 5/16"less thanthe measurement t aken behindthe axle.
Adjustif necessary.
SEAT ADJUSTMENT
Referto the Assemblysectionof this manualfor seat adjustment
instructions.
PARKING
BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
Neverattemptto adjustthe brakeswhiletheengineis running.Always
disengagePTO(BladeEngageLever),moveshift leverintoneutral
position,stopengineand remove key to prevent u nintended starting.
If thetractordoes notcome to a completestop whenthe clutch-brake
pedal is completely depressed,or if the tractor'srear wheelscan roll
with the parkingbrakeapplied,the brakeis in needof adjustment.

NOTE: Severalcomponents mustbe removedand specialtools (i.e.
air/impactwrench)in orderto changethetractor'sdrivebelt. Contact
the nearest Parts & Repair Service Center to haveyourtransmis-
siondrivebelt serviced.

MUFFLER
Temperature of mufflerand nearbyengineareasmay exceed150 ° F
(65°0).Avoidcontactwith theseareas.
Inspectmufflerperiodically,and replaceif necessary.Replace-
mentparts for the mufflermustbe the sameand installedin the
samepositionas theoriginal parts.
CLEAN
ENGINE
Dailyor beforeevery use,cleangrass,chaff or accumulated
debrisfrom engine.Keeplinkage,spring,and controlsclean.
Keepareaaroundandbehindmufflerfreeof anycombustible debris.
Keepingenginecleanallowsair movement a roundengine.
Engineparts shouldbe kept cleanto reducethe risk of overheat-
ing and ignitionof accumulated debris.
Donot usewaterto cleanengine parts.Watercouldcontaminate fuel
system.Usea brushor dry cloth.
CARBURETOR
ADJUSTMENT
The carburetor on this engineis notadjustable.
BATTERY
CaliforniaProposition 65 WARNING!Batteryposts,terminals,and
relatedaccessoriescontainlead and lead compounds, c hemicals
knownto the Stateof Californiato causecancerand reproductive
harm.Washhandsafter handling.
If removing the battery,disconnectthe NEGATIVE (Black)wire
from its terminalfirst, followedbythe POSITIVE (Red)wire. When
re-installing the battery,alwaysconnectthe POSITIVE(Red)wireto
[ts termna f rst,fo owedby the NEGAT VE (Back) w re.
The batteryis sealedand is maintenance-free. Acidlevelscannot be
checked.
Alwayskeepthe batterycablesand terminalscleanand free of
corrosivebuild-up.
After cleaningthe batteryand terminals,applya lightcoat of
petroleum jelly or greaseto bothterminals.
Alwayskeepthe rubberbootpositionedoverthe positiveterminal
to preventshorting.
