Removethe foam pre-filterfrom aroundthe paperair filter. See
Fig. 25. Replacepaperelementwhendirty or damaged.Clean
foamelementor replacewhendamaged.

Squeezeor pressthe foam elementto rinseoutdirt and water.Do
nottwist; this coulddamageor tear thefoam element.Allowto

enginewith spark plug removed.
Toensureproperengineoperation,the spark plug mustbe properly
gappedand free of deposits.

Removethe spark plugboot and usea spark plugwrenchto
removethe plug.See Fig. 28.

Fig. 27.Turnthumbscrewsclockwiseuntil snug.Checkfor any
misalignment.
If the enginehas been running,the mufflerwill be very hot. Be careful
not to touchthe muffler.

apparentwear,or if the insulatoris crackedor chipped.Cleanthe
spark plug with a wirebrushif it is to be reused.
