Safety interlock Switches
The safetyinterlock s ystemisdesignedfor safe operationof thetrac-
tor. If this systemshouldevermalfunction,do notoperatethetractor.
Immediatelycontact1-800i4iMY-HOME to havethe systemserviced.
The safetyinterlocksystempreventstheenginefrom starting
unlessthe parkingbrakeis engagedand the PTO(BladeEngage)
leveris in the disengaged(OFF)position.
The safetyinterlock s ystemwill automatically shut off theengine if
theoperatorleavesthe seat beforeengagingthe parkingbrake.
The safetyinterlocksystemwill automatically shut off theengine
ifthe operatorleavesthetractor'sseat with the PTO(Blade
Engage)leverengaged,regardlessof whetherthe parkingbrake
is engaged.
Theenginewill automaticallyshut off if the PTO(BladeEngage)
leveris movedintothe engaged(ON)positionwith the shift lever
in Reverse.
Donot operatethe tractorif the interlocksystemis malfunctioning.
This systemwas designedfor yoursafetyand protection.
iGNiTiON
SWITCH
The ignitionswitchis activatedto startthe engine.Insertkeyinto the
ignition switchand turnclockwiseto the STARTposition.Releasethe
key intothe ON positiononceenginehasfired. See Fig. 19.
Tostop theengine,turnthe ignitionkey counterclockwise to the OFF
position.See Fig. 19.
NEVER leavea runningmachineunattended.Alwaysdisengage
PTO,moveshift leverintoneutralposition,set parkingbrake,stop
leng ne and removekeyto preventun ntendedstartng.
IMPORTANT: Prior to operatingthetractor,referto both Safety
InterlockSwitchesand StartingThe Enginein the Operationsectionof
this manualfor furtherdetailedinstructions.

Avoid Serious
Injury or Death
Knowlocationand functionof all controls.
Removeobjectswhich couldbe thrownbythe blades.
Go up and downslopes,not across.
Useextra cautionon slopes.Do notmow slopesgreaterthan 12
degrees.Avoidsuddenturns.Use lowspeed.
Donotoperatemachinewhereitcould tip or slip.
If machinestopsgoing uphill,stop bladesand backdown
slowly.
Beforeleavingoperator'sposition,disengageblades,engage
parkingbrake,shutoff and removekey.
Be surebladesand engine are stoppedbeforeplacinghandsor
feet near blades.
Keepsafetydevices(guards,shields,switches,etc.) in place
and working.
Keepbystanders away.
Allowmachineto coolbeforefuelingor storing.
Keepmachinefreeof debris.

ENGAGING
THE PARKING
BRAKE
To engage
the parking
brake:
1.
Fullydepressthebrakepedal and hold it downwith yourfoot.
2.
Movetheparkingbrakeleverdown intothe parkingbrake
position.
3.
Releasethe brakepedalto allowthe parkingbraketo engage.
To release
the parking
brake:
1.
Depressthe brakepedaland movethe speedcontrol leverout of
the parkingbrakeposition.
SETTING
THE CUTTING
HEIGHT
1.
Select the heightpositionof the cuttingdeck by placingthe deck
lift leverin anyof the differentcuttingheightnotcheson the right
side of the fender.
Keephandsand feet awayfrom thedischargeopeningof the cutting
deck.
STARTING
THE ENGINE
Do notoperatethe tractorif the interlocksystemis malfunctioning.
This systemwas designedfor your safetyand protection.
NOTE: Referto the Assemblysectionof this manualfor gasolineand
oil fill-upinstructions.
1.
Insertthe tractorkey intothe ignitionswitch.
2.
Placethe PTO (Blade Engage) leverin the disengaged(OFF)
position.
3.
Engagethe tractor'sparkingbrake.
4.
Activatethe chokecontrol.
