STEP 2: Operation
A. To select a mowing speed, first
move the Wheel Drive Lever (A,
Figure 4-8) to the DISENGAGE
position.
NOTE: When changing the
speed of the mower, always move
the Wheel Drive Lever (A, Figure
4-8) back to the DISENGAGE
position to de-clutch the wheel
drive mechanism before turning
the Wheel Speed Adjustment
Knob.
B. Turn the Wheel Speed
Adjustment Knob (on end of lever)
until the arrow on the knob points
to the desired setting: 1 (slow) to 5
(fast). See Figure 4-9.
C. Move the Wheel Drive Lever
forward to engage the wheels and
begin mowing.

STEP 3: Stopping
A. Move the Wheel Drive Lever
back to the DISENGAGE posi-
tion to stop the wheels.
B. Release the Operator Presence
Control Bar. This will stop the en-
gine and stop the mower blade
within three seconds.
C. Turn the ignition key to OFF.
Remove the key before storing the
mower or leaving it unattended.
NOTE: To stop the mower in an
emergency, merely release the
Operator Presence Control Bar.
IMPORTANT: Always store the
mower with the Wheel Drive
Lever in DISENGAGE and with
the knob in one (1) to prevent
accidentally starting the mower
at a FAST wheel speed.
