in this Troubleshooting
Chart, refer to the appropriate
information

tained in this Manual
for the correct safety precautions
and operating
or maintenance
procedures.

PROBLEM
Engine does notstart.
Engine runspoorly.

POSSIBLE CAUSE
1. Spark plug wire disconnected.
2. Engine Speed Lever in incorrect position.
3. Fuel tank empty.
4. Stale gasoline.
5. Safety Interlock connector on grass
catcher boot or discharge cover not
securely in place.
6. Dirty air filter(s).

7. Defectiveor incorrectly gapped spark plug.

8. Carburetor out of adjustment.

9. Defective Engine Speed Lever or wiring.

CORRECTION
1. Reconnectwire.

4. Drain fuel and add fresh fuel.
5. Attach connector to interlock switch.

assembly if damaged or defective.
Inspect assembly and wiring, replaceif

Pull Operator PresenceControl Bar up
against handlebar.

Drain gasoline and add fresh gasoline.

Sharpen or replace blade.
Adjust cutting height to cut approximately
1/3 of the length of the grass. Then
gradually work down to desired cutting
height.
Shutoff engine,usea gardenhoseto clean
underside of mowerdeck.
Move EngineSpeed Lever to FASTspeed.
Empty grass catcher bag.
