Chapter 3: Operating YourVCR

If you have not already
done so, set the, speed at which you
would like to record. (See "Selecting
and adjusting
the audio
and video functions"
on page 35.)
Set the VCR's input
to tuner.
To do thi_, press the INPUT
button
on the remote
until the channel
number
shows on-
screen
or on the front panel display.
(If you would like to
record channels
from a Primestar
rec.eiver, press the INPUT
button
until the channel
number
with l_he Primestar
light
appears
on the front panel display.)
Use the CHANNEL
buttons
or the number
buttons
to select
the channel
you would like to record.
If you are using
a cable box that the VC,R does not control,
select channel
3 or 4 on the VCR, ancl change
the channel
on
the cable box.

Press the REC/OTR
button
on the front panel twice. The first
time you press the button,
recording
will begin. The second
time you press the button,
30 minutes
:is added to the OTR
timer,
which is displayed
on the front panel.
Press the REC/OTR
button
for each 30 minutes
you want to
add to the OTR timer,
_Lpto 4 hours.
If you press the button
10 times, you will see the word "End" o1_the front panel
display.
The VCR will record until th,_ end of the tape. If you
press the button
an eleventh
time, the VCR will resume
normal
recording.
The OTR timer will begin to count down. When it reaches
zero,
the VCR will stop recording
and turn off. If you have previously
programmed
your VCR to record, the VCR will be ready to record
what you've programmed.
If the end of the _;ape is reached
before
OTR is finished,
the VCR will stop and the power will turn off.
If you attempt
to record on a tape that has had its erasure
pre-
vention
tab removed,
the VCR will eject the tape.
Ifyou programtoo much time into the 0TR timer,
continue
pressing
the REC/OTR
button.
You will "cycle" around
once you have reached
the 4-hour
point. You can start
over,
adding
time in 30 minute
intervals.

If you press the PAUSE
button
during
OTR, the VCR will pause
recording,
but the OTR timc_r continues
to c_unt down.
If you press the PLAY/STOP
button
durir_g OTR, you erase the
OTR programming.
You cannot
use the REC/OTR
button
on the front panel to resume
recording
from the record-pause
mode.
