Programming the Remote
buttonswhen opeEating mostTVsets, V CRsor
cable boxes. T heChannelUp/Downindicationis
printed directlyon the remote.Formanystan-
dard CD players, c assette decks, V CRsandDVD
functions,the standardfunction iconsare
printed on top of the buttons.
For someproducts,however, t he function of a
particular button doesnot follow the command
printed on the remote. In orderto seewhich
function a buttoncontrols,consultthe Function
Listtables printedon pages31 and 32. To use
thosetables,first checkthe type of devicebeing
controlled(e.g.,TV, V CR).Next,look at the
remote control diagrampicturedat the left.
Notethat eachbutton hasa numberon it.
Tofind out what function a particularbutton
has for a specificdevice,find the button num-
ber on the FunctionListand then look in the
columnfor the deviceyou arecontrolling.For
example,button number50 is the Macro2
button for the AVR110,but it isthe "Favorite"
button for manycabletelevisionboxesand
satellite receiveEs. Button number29 is the
Delaybuttonfor the AVR110, but the + Time
button for CDplayers.
Notethat the numbersusedto describethe
button functions at the left for the purposes of
describinghow a button operatesare a differ-
ent set of numbersthan those usedin the rest
of this manualto describethe button functions
for theAVR110.
Notes on Usingthe AVR 110 RemoteWith
Other Devices.
• Manufacturers may use differentcodesetsfor
the sameproducteategoly.Forthat reason,it
is importantthat you checkto seeif the code
set you haveenteredoperatesas manycon-
trois aspossible. I f it appealsthat only a few
functionsoperate,checkto seeif another
codeset will work with morebuttons.
• When a button is pressedon the AVR110
remote,the red light underthe Input
Selector @ for the productbeingoperat-
ed shouldflash briefly,if the DeviceControl
Selectorflashesfor somebut not att buttons
for a particular product,it doesNOTindicate
a problemwith the remotebut rather that
no function is programmedfor the button
beingpushed.
Volume Punch-Through
TheAVR110's remote may be programmedto
operatethe Volume Control _)
and Mute
funedonsof eitherthe TVor the AVR110
in conJunction with any of the devicescon-
trolled by the remote.Forexample, s incethe
AVR110 will likely be usedas the soundsys-
tem forTVviewing,you maywish to havethe
AVR110'svolume activated,althoughthe
remote is set to run the TV.Eitherthe AVR110
or TVvolumecontrol may be associatedwith
any of the remote'sdevices. T o programthe
remote for VolumePunch-Through, follow
these steps:
1. Press the Input Selector_
for the unit
you wishto haveassociated with the volume
controlandthe Mute button _
at the
sametime until the ied light appealsunder
the Input Selector _
andnote thatthe
Program Indicator _
will flashamber.
2. Pressthe Volume Up button I_
and note
that the Program Indicator_
witl stop
flashingandstayamber.
3. Presseither the AVR Selector _
or the
Input Selector _,
dependingon which
system's volumecontrolyou wish to have
attachedfor the punch-throughmode.The
Program Indicator _
wilt blink green
threetimesand thengo out to confirmthe
data entry.
Example: Tohavethe AVR110'svolume
control activatedeventhoughthe remote is
set to control the TV,first pressthe
Video/IV Input Selector _
andthe
Mute button _
at the sametime.Next,
pressthe Volume Up button _,
followed
bythe AVR Selector _]t.
NOTE:Shouldyouwish to return the remoteto
the originalconfigurationafter enteringa
VolumePunch-Through, you will needto repeat
the stepsshownabove.However, p ressthe same
Input Selector i n Steps1 and 3.
Channel Control Punch-Through
TheAVR110'sremotemaybe programmed to
operatesothat the channel c ontrol functionfor
either the TV, c ableor satellitereceiverusedin
your systemmaybe usedin conjunction with
one of the otherdevices controlledby the
remote.Forexample, w hile usingandcontrolling
the VCR, y ou may wish to changechannels on a
cablebox or satellitereceiverwithout havingto
changethe deviceselected bythe AVR110or
the remote.Toprogramthe remotefor Channel
ControlPunch-Through, follow thesesteps:
1. Press the Input Selector button_
for the
deviceyou wishto havethe channel c ontrol
associated with andthe Mute button
at the sametime until the red light appeals
underthe Input Selector _
andthe
Program Indicator _
flashesambec
2. Press the Volume Down button _).
The
Program Indicator _
wilt stop flashing
andstayamber.
3. Press andreleasethe Input Selector button
for the devicethat will be usedto change
the channels. TheProgram Indicator
will blink greenthreetimes andthen go out
to confirmthe data entEy.
Example:Tocontrolthe channels usingyour
CableBoxor SatelliteReceiver while the
remoteis setto controlthe VCR,first press
the VID 1/VCRInput Selector button
andthe Mute button _
at the sametime.
Next,release them andpressthe Volume
Down button _.), followed bythe VID 2/IV
Input Selector button _.
NOTE:Toremovethe Channel C ontrol Punch-
Through and returnthe remoteto its original
configuEation, repeatthe stepsshownin the
exampleabove.HoweveE, pressthe VID I/VCR
Input Selector in Steps1 and3.
Transport Control Punch-Through
TheAVR110'sremotemay be programmed to
operatesothat the TransportControl func-
tions I_ (Play, S top,FastFo_vard, Rewind,
Pause andRecord) f or aVCR,DVDor CDwilt
operateinconjunctionwith oneof the other
devices controlledby the remote.Forexample,
whileusing andcontrollingthe TV, y ou maywish
to startor stop yourVCRor DVDwithout having
to changethe deviceselected bythe AVR110or
the remote.Toprogramthe remotefor Transport
ControlPunch-Through, follow thesesteps:
1. Press the Input Selector _
forthe device
youwish to havethe channel c ontrolassoci-
atedwith and the Mute button _
at the
