Operation
Basic Operation
Onceyou havecompletedthe setupand
configurationof the AVR110,it is simpleto
operateand enjoy.Thefollowing instructions
will help you maximize the enjoymentof your
newreceiver:
Turning the AVR 110 On or Off
• When usingthe AVR110 forthe firsttime,you
mustpressthe Main Power Switch [] oil the
front panelto turn the unit on.Thisplaces the
unit ina Standby mode,asindicatedbythe
ambercolorof the Power Indicator I_!. Once
the unit is in Standby, you may begina listening
sessionbypressingthe SystemPower Control
[] oil the flont panelor the AVR Selector
ql_. Notethat the Power Indicator [] will
turn green.Thiswill turn the unit on andreturnit
to the input source that waslastused. T heunit
mayalsobeturnedon flora Standby by pressing
anyof the Input Selector buttonson the
remote_O
or the Input Source
Selector button[]
on the front panel.
NOTE: A fter pressing oneof the Input Selector
buttons_0
to turn the unit on, pressthe
AVR Selector _t to setthe remotecontrolto
the AVR110functions.
Toturn the unit off at the endof a listening
session,simplypressthe SystemPower
Control []
on the front panelor the Power
Off button _]P on the remote.Powerwill be
shut off to any equipmentpluggedinto the rear
panelSwitched AC Outlets _) and the
Power Indicator []
wilt turn ambec
Whenthe remote is usedto turn the unit "off"
it is actuallyplacingthe systemin a Standby
mode,as indicatedbythe ambercolorof the
Power Indicator I_1.
• To program the AVR 110 for automatic turn-
off, press the Sleep button I_t on the remote.
Each press of the button will increase the time
before shut down in the following sequence:

Thesleeptime will be displayedin the Preset
Number/Sleep Timer Indicator [] and it
wilt count down until the time has elapsed.
When the programmedsleeptime haselapsed,
the unit will automaticallyturn off. Note that
the front paneldisplaywill dim to one half
brightness when the Sleepfunction is
programmed. T ocancel t he Sleepfunction,
pressandhold the Sleep button!_t until
the informationdisplayreturns to normal
brightness, t he Sleepindicatornumbers
disappearand the words SLEEP
OFF
appearin the Main Information Display [].
When you will be awayfrom home for an
extendedperiodof time it is alwaysa good
ideato completelyturn the unit off with the
front panelMain Power Switch [].
NOTE: A tt presetmemoriesare lost if the unit is
left turned off by using the Main Power
Switch [] for morethan two weeks.
Source Selection
• Toselecta SOUrCe, pressany of the Source
Selector buttonsoil the remote 11_.
• Theinput sourcemayalso be changedby
pressing the front-panel Input Source
Selector button []. Eachpressof the button
wilt movethe input selectionthrough the list of
availableinputs.
• Asthe input ischanged,the AVR110will
automaticallyswitchto the digital input (if
selected), s urroundmode,speakerconfigura-
tion, output levels, c rossover frequencyand
night modestatusthat wereenteredduringthe
configurationprocessfor that source.
• Thefront-panelVideo 4 Inputs _J_"_ may
be usedto connecta devicesuchas a video
game or eamcorder t o your home entertain-
mentsystemon a temporarybasis.
• Asthe input sourceis changed,the new input
namewilt appear momentarilyas an on-screen
displayin the lower third of the video display.
Theinput namewilt alsoappear inthe Main
Information Display [] anda greenLEDwilt
light next to the selected input's namein the
front panelInput Indicators _'_.
• Whenan audio sourceis selected, t he last
video input usedremainsrouted to the Video
Outputs _
andVideo Monitor Output
lid Thispermitssimultaneous viewing andlis-
tening to different sources.
• WhenaVideosourceis selected, t he video sig-
nalfor that inputwill be routedto the Video
Monitor Output jack lid andwilt be viewable
on aTVmonitorconnected to the AVR110.
Volume Control
• Adjustthe volumeto a comfortablelevel
usingthe front panel Volume Control []
or
remoteVolume Up/Down _)
buttons.
• When listeningin the Stereomode with the
surroundcircuitsoff, the BalanceControl []
maybe usedto adjustthe relativesoundoutput
betweenthe front left andfront right speakers.
• Totemporarilysilenceall speakeroutputs
pressthe Mute button I_.
Thiswilt interrupt
the output to all speakersandthe headphone
jack, but it wilt not affect any recordingor dub-
bing that may be in progress. When the system
is muted,the MUTE indicator[]
will light in
the Main Information Display []. Pressthe
Mute button I_
again to return to normal
operation,
• During a listeningsession you maywish to
adjust the BassControl []
andTreble
Control []
to suit your listeningtastesor
room
acoustics
• Tosetthe output of the AVR110 so that
the output is "fiat," with the tone controlsde-
activated,pressthe Tone Mode button []
buttononceor twice so that the words
T o n e Ou 1; appearmomentarilyin the
Main Information Display []. Toreturnthe
tone controls to an activecondition,pressthe
Tone Mode button [] onceor twice sothat
the words T o n e ][n momentarilyappearin
the Main Information Display [].
• For private listening,plug the 1/4" stereo
phoneplug from a pair of stereoheadphones
into the front panelHeadphonejack [_ll. Note
that when the headphone'splug is connected,
the word HE AI)PNONE wilt scrollonce
acrossthe Main Information Display []
and all speakers will be silenced. W henthe
headphone plug is removed,the audiofeed to
the speakers will be restored.
