Shooting in the Scene Mode Selected by the Camera
(Scene Auto Selector)
By simply framing a picture, tile carnera automatically selects tile optimum scene
mode for simpler shooting.
When tile camera is aimed at a subject in _ scene auto selector scene mode, tile
camera automatically selects one of the following scene modes:
• Auto (_ 24) • Portrait (_ 37) • Landscape(_ 37)
• Night portrait (_ 38) • Night landscape (_ 40) • Close-up (_ 40)
• Backlight (_ 42)

Press the I_1 button in shooting
mode to displaythe
shooting-mode _
selection menu and choose
(Scene auto selector) ([[[_ 36).
The camera enters scene auto selector scene
mode.
_t Frame the subject and take the picture.
When the camera automatically selects a scene mode,
the shooting mode icon changes to that for the scene
mode currently enabled.

F..._: Landscape t_: Backlight
FI_: Night portrait
When more than one face is framed by a border, tap a border to choose the face on
which the camera focuses.
Press the shutter-release button halfway to set focus and exposure.
Press the shutter-release button the rest of the way down to take the picture.
Note on Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode
Depending upon shooting conditions, the camera may not select the desired scene mode. Should
this occur, switch to I_1 (auto) mode ([[]_) 24) or select the desired scene mode manually ([]_) 36),
[] Flash Mode in Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode
_tllJT ri (Auto) (default setting) and _) (Off) flash mode settings can be applied (_ 32),
• When ,_l]IITri ( Auto) is applied, the camera automatically selects the optimum flash mode setting
for the scene mode it has selected.
• When _) (Off) is applied, the flash does not fire, regardless of shoodng conditions,
[] Functions Restricted in Scene Auto Selector Scene Mode
• Digital zoom is not available.
• Macro mode is disabled, The macro mode turns on when the camera selects aese-up scene mode,
• AF area mode (_ 116)is set to Auto in _ (Close up) mode.
