If you experience this difficulty
You are unable to access the configuration
commands in the CLI.
Configuration changes do not seem to be
taking effect.
Configuration changes are not reinstated
after a reboot.
The XP-2000 is not resolving DNS
names.
An SNMP manager cannot access the XP-
2000.
You are unable to ping a certain host.

Try this remedy
From the CLI, type enable to access Enable mode,
then type configure to access Configure mode.
Use the procedure in Activating the Configuration
Commands in the Scratchpad
activate the changes.
Use the procedure in Saving the Active
Configuration to the Startup Configuration File
page 61
to save the configuration changes to the
Startup configuration file.
Use the procedure in Setting the DNS Domain
Name and Address
on page 52
If you have already performed this procedure,
make sure you can use NS lookup on the DNS
server to get the default domain.
Use the procedure in Setting Up SNMP Community
Strings
on page 48
to set up an SNMP community
string and specify a target for SNMP traps.
If you have already performed this procedure, type
snmp show all in the CLI to check the SNMP
settings.
Use the traceroute and ping commands to verify
that the XP-2000 can reach the SNMP
management station.
Create and add an IP or IPX interface for the host.
