Error Logging
The lower nibble 'Y' indicates the bus on which the different routines are being executed. 'Y' can
be from 0 to 5.
0 = Generic DIM (Device Initialization Manager).
1 = On-board System devices.
2 = ISA devices.
3 = EISA devices.
4 = ISA PnP devices.
5 = PCI devices.

ACPI checkpoints are displayed when an ACPI capable operating system either enters or
leaves a sleep state. The following table describes the type of checkpoints that may occur
during ACPI sleep or wake events.

BIOS Messages

Message Displayed
Gate20 Error The BIOS is unable to properly control the motherboard's Gate A20 function, which controls
access of memory over 1 MB. This may indicate a problem with the motherboard.
Multi-Bit ECC Error This message will only occur on systems using ECC enabled memory modules. ECC memory
has the ability to correct single-bit errors that may occur from faulty memory modules.
A multiple bit corruption of memory has occurred, and the ECC memory algorithm cannot
correct it. This may indicate a defective memory module.
Parity Error Fatal Memory Parity Error. System halts after displaying this message.

concerning the device.
