Log in to the Administrator

Run the Data Protector Express Administrator. For information on how to run the Administrator for
various operating systems, see

Log in to the Data Protector Express Administrator. If this is the first time you have logged in, the
default user name is "Admin" and no password required.
NOTE:
We strongly recommend that you assign a password before you start to use Data Protector
Express on a regular basis, particularly if you are in a multi-user environment.

A Simple, Immediate Backup
We will do a simple backup of selected files to a local backup device. This will illustrate many of the
backup features available in Data Protector Express. For many organizations, a simple backup such as
this may be all that is needed. Organizations with more complex needs can use this simple backup as a
starting point for exploring the other capabilities of Data Protector Express.

Make sure the device is powered up and insert a blank piece of media. You do not need to format
the media. Data Protector Express will do that, if necessary, when it runs the job.

Select Wizards in the Favorites desk bar and double-click Backup in the Detail Area.
