Creating from the Jobs and Media View

Commonly, you will create jobs while working with the Jobs and Media view in the main Data Protector
Express window. When you create a job this way, Data Protector Express opens the property page of
the new job so you can name the job, select files and devices, set up logging and other options, and
schedule it to run. You will need to select the appropriate properties page and set the options you
want this backup job to have.
To create a new job from the Jobs and Media view
1.
Select Jobs and Media from the Favorites desk bar and open your user folder, e.g., Admin.
2.
To store the job in a specific folder, create or select a folder before you create the job. Your new job
will be saved in the selected folder; otherwise, it will be stored directly under the user.
3.
Create the new job in one of these ways ...
a. Select New from the File menu or
b. Click the New button on the Commands pane or
c.
Right-click in the Data Protector Express object detail area and select New from the shortcut
menu.
4.
The New Job window will be displayed.
5.
Select the type of media job (e.g., format or identify) from the Choose type pulldown list.
6.
Enter a unique name for the new backup job.
7.
Click OK.

Creating by Copying Existing Job

Creating a new media job by copying an existing media job can be a quick way to creating a job when
you want your new job to be like the old job in every way except for a few minor changes.
