Want
The following chart gives explanations of common problems and messages. If
other messages appear, follow the instructions displayed.

Nothing happens when the
operation switch is turned
on.
The user code entry dis-
play appears.
Problem
The main power indicator
continues blinking and
does not turn off when
pressed.
Original images are print-
ed on the reverse side of
the paper.
Misfeeds occur frequently.
An error message remains,
even if misfed paper is re-
moved.

4. Troubleshooting

Causes
This message appears
when you turn on the oper-
ation switch or change the
toner bottle.
The machine is in Energy
Saver mode.
The operation switch is
turned off.
The main power switch is
turned off.
Users are restricted by user
management.
Causes
The machine is communi-
cating with external equip-
ment.
You may have loaded the
paper incorrectly.
Copy paper size setting is
not correct.
The tray's back fence may
not be set properly.
When a misfeed message
appears, it remains until
you open and close the cov-
er, as required.
Solutions
Wait for the machine to get ready.
Turn on the operation switch.
Turn on the main power switch.
Enter the user code (up to eight dig-
its), and then press the { { { { OK} } } } or { { { { #} } } }
key.
Solutions
Check if the machine is communi-
cating with a computer.
Load paper correctly. Load paper
into Tray 1-2 with the print side up,
and bypass tray with the print side
down.
Set the proper paper size. See p.29
"Tray Paper Size:Tray 1–2" and p.94
"Copy Paper".
Check the back fence is set properly.
See p.77 "Changing the Paper Size".
Clear misfed paper, and then open
and close the cover. See p.75 "x
Clearing Misfeeds".
