Set Data
When you have servers containing extended ASCII data (multinational characters) or double-byte
character set data(Japanese, Korean, and other oriental languages), extra care is required to ensure
that this data is migrated correctly. This chapter outlines the additional steps you need to take when
copying this data to Open Enterprise Server (OES) Linux and NetWare
Section 13.1, "Preparing the Workstation," on page 117
Section 13.2, "Changing the Language Setting on OES Linux Servers," on page 117
Section 13.3, "Changing the NetWare Server Code Page," on page 118

13.1 Preparing the Workstation

If you are copying extended ASCII or double-byte character set data from a server, the workstation
must have Windows installed with the same language as the server. For example, if you are
migrating a Japanese server, make sure your workstation is running Windows with Japanese
language support.
For information on how to install language support in Windows XP, see
Interface Pack (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0db2e8f9-79c4-4625-
a07a-0cc1b341be7c&displaylang=en).
You must also enable UTF-8 support in the Novell Client
Server Consolidation and Migration Toolkit.
To do this, right-click the N icon on the workstation toolbar, then click Novell Client Properties >
Advanced Settings > Use UTF8 encoding and NCPs > Setting: On.
TIP: For Windows 2000/2003 consolidation projects, you can run the Server Consolidation Utility
on the Windows server itself. This is the preferred method, especially if you have data that uses
extended ASCII or double-byte character sets. (You cannot run the Server Consolidation Utility on
Windows NT servers, because the Novell Client no longer supports Windows NT.)
13.2 Changing the Language Setting on OES
Linux Servers
If you are copying extended ASCII or double-byte character set data from a NetWare server to an
OES Linux server using the Novell Server Consolidation Utility, you must first change the language
setting on the Linux server to match the language used on the NetWare server. You can do this using
the YaST utility. See
"Language Selection" in the SUSE
(http://www.novell.com/documentation/oes/index.html?page=/documentation/oes/sles_admin/data/
