The following paragraphs explain how these commands are used to configure your network
devices.

Configuring 3400/4400 Series Modems and 3600 Series DSUs

The 3400/4400 Series modems and the 3600 Series DSUs can be configured to perform specific
functions by setting the following device options:
These options can be set by executing the following commands:
Change Call Directory (chcd)
Change Options (cho)
Change Port Options (chpo)
Change Port Speed (chpsp)
Change Protocol Mode (chpm)
Change Telephone Number (chtn)

Execute this command to change the telephone number(s) in a call directory.
Execute this command to set the options of a 3400/4400 Series modem or a 3600 Series
DSU. This command is used to set the circuit, diagnostic, and Data Terminal Equipment
(DTE) interface features.
Execute this command to configure one or more ports on a 3400/4400 Series modem (up
to four ports) or a 3600 Series DSU (up to six ports) having an optional Time Division
Multiplexer (TDM) port card or a Modem Sharing Device (MSD).
Execute this command to configure the port speeds on a 3400/4400 Series modem or a
3600 Series DSU with the TDM option installed.
Execute this command to change the diagnostic protocol for the specified 3400/
4400 Series control modem and its downstream devices, or to change the diagnostic
protocol for a 3600 Series DSU.
Execute this command to change one or more of the four telephone numbers associated
with a 3400/4400 Series modem configured with the Auto-Call AutoAnswer option, or to
change the one telephone number (the DBM's telephone number) in a 3600 Series DSU
configured with a Dial Backup Module (DBM).
